Sky's Sports News presenter Jacquie Beltrao is in New York for the US Open. She looks at how Andy Murray's wrist is holding up as he begins his favourite Slam.

It's the moment of truth for Andy Murray - and his wrist.

Judging by his demeanour around Flushing Meadows this week he is ready.....no more than ready to play Grand Slam tennis again.

The 20-year-old Scot was forced out of the Hamburg Open in May after damaging a tendon in his wrist.

Wimbeldon and the French Open were the first casualties.

His two comeback tournaments since injury were certainly, and perhaps understandably, a bit of a let down.

He is still walking around with a big bag of ice on it between practice session while coach Brad Gilbert is urging him to let fly a bit and forget about the pain.

But it's the US Open the tournament Murray values above all the rest.

His favourite surface, his favourite crowd - the Grand Slam he won as a junior.

He has loads of teenage fans here.

When I asked them why they liked him so much the answer is always the same: "He's just a scruffy kid like us."

Last year he was exceptional on these courts, getting to the quarter-finals.

If he makes the second week here this time he'll be a very happy scruffy kid.

His final practice session was against world No2 Rafael Nadal. If you can come through that firing line and you're still smiling then things must be OK.
